ripened and seduced by instinct, an apple.
a thought ignites, like a spark in the dark
reticent at first, nebulous and fragile then
gains intensity, warming, illumining the
walls of the heart of the core of the mind.
the friendly fire swells, melting streams
of red ribbons that wildly cascade into
caverns, hollows and fissures, enthusing
everything that is flaccid in their wake.
with the awakening of the senses, the eyes
dilate, clutched in a hazy knowing state,
seeing what is behind silk, satin and scent
imagining beyond the promise of all sins.
from feverish orbs to the uncoiling tongue
that quivers, dries and thirsts at each hint
of malice that permeates the moistened air,
parting the lips to unbound primal sounds.
the skin, a landscape of orifices and fur,
languorous and liquid, releases rivulets of
dewy sweat to ebb sinuously, southbound
to a thousand and one points of desire.
from fire to hands, at once fluid and rough,
that seek solace from tumult and tempest.
stroking and caressing each need, each want.
and blissfully content, waiting for the rain.
with little earthquakes i lie supine, a serpent.

Very intriguing. I like the photos you chose also.
Amazing wordsmithing, Cris :)
I was intrigued by the title :). I'm more intrigued by the poem. I'm expecting an award for you next year then I can say I knew you when...:D
Amazing as usual. You need to publish your poems in a book. I know lots of people would buy it :)
It pisses me off that you use English better than I. Excellent work!
The apple and the serpent are powerful images of temptation. The images of arousal which follow are a treat to read. Thanks.
...foreplay????? love the simple title and the dessert of words to follow .. I will come again.

You are absolutely blessed with such a gift! I loved every line of this poem, and your generous twists and turns, and skilled use of imagery. Voted up and awesome!
Gorgeous poem, rich in descriptive sensuality...enticing memories to return to the forefront of the mind and heart...! :)
Excellent. You love words as much as I... and I see you like many of the same words as I.
Marked up and beautiful.
I just love to read something by someone who has such a good control and use of the English Language.
Oooooooooooooooo I am sizzling, darn it where is the fan when I need it. Holy smoking moses my imagination is going like the clappers. x
Your English, Chris, is excellent, my friend. I wish more on Hub Pages wrote at your standard... or even below it... they would still do better than what they are achieving right now.
I did not see this before. You said that you would stop writing, so I did not keep an eye out. Wonderful stuff.
Again - another poetic masterpiece, Cris. I'm most impressed with the unself-conscious, intimate, familial way you caress great words and they respond to your use of them like lovers to a lover's fingertips, equally unselfconsciously. The sensuality is linked to the intellect in a lovely seductive way. Even the subtle way you spaced the letters of the title are magnetic.
And I see that my dear friends are here praising this one, too! You attract the best of the best!
Hugs - and thank you for sharing your talent.
Cris, you stand among giants. De Greek and Nellieanna!
The first beat me to you, that great lady Nellieanna, I beat by a whisker. We love your work.
Wow.
Holy mackarel Cris this poem was more potent than my bottle of bourbon that Xmas made me consume. Forgot to tell you if this is foreplay I just can't fathom what your love making ones would be like. They would kill me no doubt. Aghhhh. x
Thanks, Cris! But I'm thinking that blondepoet noticed more details! hehe!
Thank you, dear Ian! That is a lovely compliment! (And speaking of literary giants. . .)
Blush!
I feel sad that I did not know the poet when he was living. May his soul rest in peace.
I wish that I could have told him how amazing he is!
devastated
I still cry :( I've never known a talent like his. And he had a sense of humor too. He always called my kids the bratz hahah
