This is my 100th hub and it's almost the end of the year. And I thought, what better way to celebrate this forced interest in the calculated coincidence than by doling out hub awards? I know hub awards are not mine to give for I am no writing expert, not even a self-professed watchdog, but but BUT is there anyone who would or should? Yeah, probably Paul Deeds. You have a point. But would he? I would. And besides, I would only act as the polling station and the pollwatcher and not the "pollee".
With the help of some hubber friend (a wink to you), I have come up with some categories that aim to represent the crème de la crème in HubPages for what we shall call the year that was in less than 3 weeks. The nominees for each category are "at the top of my head" sort and are therefore not the only shoo-ins for the awards. I mean, I might have overlooked or forgotten some and there are 120,000 or so hubbers. So here's where you come in.
Vote among the nominees listed below or you can totally ignore them. If you have other hubbers/hubs in mind, choose "others" but make sure you mention them in the comment section. Also, please share the link/s to them if it's the first time they will be mentioned. I would modify the list of nominees based on the comments in a week's time but I shall limit their number to 10 per category prioritizing of course those who have garnered more votes. You can vote as often as you want and a change of heart is not discouraged.
Polling ends on the 1st of January 2010, if I am able to work my ass off despite my drunken stupor. The winners will be made known two days after with a list posted on the Games, Toys, & Hobbies Forums - it's about time they get some activity going on there! - and the Religion Forums for a thanksgiving of biblical proportions.

PS I almost had a nervous breakdown debating with myself on whether or not I should nominate myself but in the.end, my sense of propriety induced by a handful of Prozac won. Therefore, votes for Cris A or any of his hubs will not be counted - why am I speaking in second person? :D

This is an excellent Hub and idea. Now that I'm part of the community I think that this is a wonderful idea to not only end the year with, but bring all the "hubbers" together and view the work of some really talented writers.

I felt a regurgitating sensation in reference to being called a hubber of any kind. A hubber sounds like a fat chick. Yeah, some ugly fat chick that you got a drink a case of beer before embarking on any sexual excursions. And just as you are about to mount her, you say, huuuuuh, (that's the sound you make when throw up is making its way out) huuuuh, and in your mind you're seeing all that flubber, but you gotta do it now, however your body and mind are not one, you want to silently keep that flubber comment to yourself but it gets mixed in the the throw up sounds and you end up, huuuuuh, huuuuuhber.
And don't you delete me, or I shall be forced to associate you with evil agents against free speech.
Oh but I said PHANTOM hubber - there is all the difference.
I'm not in the habit of deleting comments, that would be like denying somebody's thrill when there's nothing in it for me either way :D
