still life

barely breathing, inanimate
a lesson in stillness perfected
skillfully arranged
composed
at play with shadow and light
sing me your allegories
man heaven and earth
i blossom in your assumptions
line by line, hue by hue
until you run out of symbols to read
and i am reduced to a fancy
blessed if placed to remembrance
where yellow becomes sepia
a half-remembered haiku
adorning a tomb
i am you
by the window, against the wall
in an imagined landscape
until life happened
and stopped happening
i lie in wait for the last watcher
a still life still

Oh Cris everytime I crave for a caramel cheesecake I come here instead. I'd rather have the sweetness of your writing in my bloodstream rather than a pound of blubber on my hips. Honestly you have the kind of writing that I can see students analysing in schools years after you have passed, your work famous, just like we all had to school with Shakespeare, your writing gives him a run for his money
